Spring Cleaning the Blog! And teaser for Counter Clockwise!

This blog needed a little dusting off so I spent the day working on a new banner^^^^^what'd ya think?

I like it! It inspires me to keep writing and publishing otherworldly YA and I'm excited to announce that there will be TWO more Clockwise books coming this year. Counter Clockwise and Clockwork Crazy. Things are getting really CRAZY for Nate and Casey. Here's a little unedited-subject-to-change teaser.

>>>><<<<

So what if he was going to Europe with his college basketball team without me? So what if the cheerleading squad and head cheerleader, Fiona Frias the Floozy, was going too? So what???

I stared hard at the text message from Nate Mackenzie, my hot boyfriend of one year, nine months and five days. My college-all-star-athlete-first-string-forward-for-the-Boston-University-Terriers-basketball-team boyfriend.

Nate: It’s official! We’re going to Spain!! It was a close call with some passport issues, but just got word we’re all clear to go!

All those exclamation marks were like stakes in my heart. Spikes to my feet. I felt frozen in spot in the middle of a busy hallway in Cambridge High. Bodies brushed by wafting stale air and teen sweat, but it wasn’t enough to propel me. My heart weighed heavy like an anchor and a scratchy lump formed in my throat.

Nate had promised me all my firsts, but the one first he could never give me was international travel. I couldn’t fly. There was always the possibility that I could trip—swirl back in time—and it was best if my feet were firmly planted on the ground when that happened.

So he was going to Europe without me. Big deal. If I wanted Nate in my life (and I did!), I had to make some concessions. I couldn’t tie him down, guilt him into not doing things just because I couldn’t.

I forced myself to text him back.

Casey: That’s great. The Terriers are great. You’ll do great.

Nate: I’m glad you think it’s GREAT.

Casey: Are the cheerleaders going too?

I winced as I pressed send, immediately wishing I could take it back. This was the crux of my issues with Nate going to Spain and we both knew it. Fiona Frias, college girl, long-legged, green-eyed-Latin-beauty was in love with my boyfriend and she didn’t try to keep it a secret. At all.

Despite Nate’s reassurances, I felt completely insecure. Here I was, still in high school while Nate was half way through his degree. Of course other girls would notice him. Of course other girls would chase him. Girls who were more mature and experienced than I was. Unscrupulous girls.

Girl. It wasn’t fair to group all girls together. Just one girl. Just one unscrupulous girl.
It only took one.

Nate didn’t text back right away and I knew I upset him with the question. For him it was an issue of trust, and all my overt and obvious enquiries about Fiona made him believe I didn’t trust him.

I did trust him. It was her I didn’t trust.

My phone finally pinged with his response.

Nate: Yes.

Only one word. Only one word! Gah! That was all he had to say? Nothing to comfort me and calm my worries?

Casey: That’s Great!

Check out this FREE YA faerie-tale by bestselling author Rachel Morgan!

Rachel's one of my author friends and I just LOVE her books. If you're looking to be swept away by fantasy, intrigue and a good dose of romance, you'll love her Faerie Guardian series.

Seriously, go grab your free copy!

**A 2014 Readers' Favorite GOLD MEDAL WINNER in YA Fantasy**

Enter a hidden world of magic, mystery, danger and romance in this YA fantasy from Amazon bestselling author, Rachel Morgan...

Protecting humans from dangerous magical creatures is all in a day's work for a faerie training to be a guardian. Seventeen-year-old Violet Fairdale knows this better than anyone--she's about to become the best guardian the Guild has seen in years. That is, until a cute human boy who can somehow see through her faerie glamour follows her into the fae realm. Now she's broken Guild Law, a crime that could lead to her expulsion.

The last thing Vi wants to do is spend any more time with the boy who got her into this mess, but the Guild requires that she return Nate to his home and make him forget everything he's discovered of the fae realm. Easy, right? Not when you factor in evil faeries, long-lost family members, and inconvenient feelings of the romantic kind. Vi is about to find herself tangled up in a dangerous plot--and it'll take all her training to get out of it alive.

Update on the Clockwise Collection - what's next?

I'm about to leave for Germany again, and the first item on my writer's agenda when I get there is to return to the 5th installment of the Clockwise Collection - Counter Clockwise

I'm excited to get back to the lives of Nate and Casey, and things are really getting complicated!

Distressed over Nate's trip with his basketball team (and an accompanying flirtatious cheerleader) to Europe, Casey makes a sudden decision to join a class trip to Hollywood, where she meets up with Adeline, the only other teen time traveler she knows. A field trip, a cocky classmate, and a social network induced misunderstanding of epic proportions push Casey and Adeline together and thrust them into the past... but into who's? Trouble seems to follow Casey no matter what era she's in, and this one filled with gansta's and raucous dancing is no different. Casey and Adeline need to find away back to the 21st Century before they end up in jail with the key tossed and in time for Casey to return to Cambridge and beg a certain worried, angry and gorgeous boy for forgiveness.

Here's a hint to what era. (I know I posted this pic before, but if you scroll down you can see I lost all my previous pictures!)

Another hint just for readers of this blog: Casey returns to Cambridge, but before she can make things right with Nate, they both go back- and return - to a much altered version of their reality - somehow they changed the future! Will they be able to change it back? And can they fix what they broke between them in the meantime?

If all goes well, you'll be able to find out this summer!!

What? It's already 2015? Have you watched Back to the Future lately?

First off, how many of you were actually around in 1989? I was and really, it doesn't feel THAT long ago. Okay, maybe it does, but even though we're actually in 2015, it still sounds futuristic to me. I remember when the year 2000 seemed way out there.

I LOVED the Back to the Future movies, but of course, when I watched them, the future was still in the future. Now that we ARE the future it's fun to go back and see what the imaginations behind the trilogy got right and what they got wrong.

See this link for the original story:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/11318938/7-things-Back-to-the-Future-predicted-for-2015.html

Here's a recap.

What they got right:

Wearable technology (Google glasses)
Video calls. (Believe it or not, Skype and Flat screen TVs weren't around in the eighties)
Microwave meals (though microwave ovens, as they were called then, were available, they were expensive and not widespread like they are today)

What they got wrong:

Flying cars, hoverboards, power clothing and fax machines.

Fax machines?

Like microwaves, fax machines were just becoming available to the average consumer. I remember when we got our first one. We announced the birth of our third son to friends in Hawaii via fax and they responded back their congratulations - it was incredible for the time. The imaginations of the day were still gobsmack with this new technology, it was hard to imagine the ease of scanning and email that was yet to come.

What about you? Did you watch Back to the Future when it first came out in drive in theaters, or are you part of the younger generation watching it for the first time on DVD or streaming through Netflix?

HAPPY 2015!
